ABOUT MS. COHEN
Hello! I am excited to get to know you this year! Here are some quick facts about me.

I grew up in Austin and graduated from McNeil High School in 2008. I attended the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em!) where I majored in English and history and earned my teaching certification through the UTeach program in 2012.
After teaching for one year at Manor High School, I joined the Panther family in 2013. In the summer of 2013, I participated in the Heart of Texas Writing Project Summer Institute, where I became a certified teacher consultant through the National Writing Project. My favorite part of being an English teacher is empowering students to find success and passion as readers and writers. Beyond the classroom, I am an AP Reader for College Board, I sponsor the PAW Tutoring Center, and I serve as a chaperone for PfAbroad (more on that below). In the 2017-2018 school year, I was honored to be chosen as the PHS Teacher of the Year. Every day at PHS is a joy, and I am so lucky to work at a school with a wonderfully tight-knit and supportive community.
My hobbies include reading, traveling, watching movies, playing trivia, attempting DIY crafts, baking, and being outside with my dogs, Bear and Moose. Some of my favorite works of literature are The Great Gatsby, Catch-22, Of Mice and Men, The Kite Runner, Macbeth, and the Harry Potter series. I also enjoy reading young adult fiction so I can recommend more books to my students! As a lifelong learner, I am always looking for ways to provide for my students and school community. Some of my guilty pleasures include organizing and color-coding, any kind of melty cheesy food, and rewatching episodes of The Office.
PfABROAD
I am one of four teacher chaperones for a yearly trip abroad through EF Tours. We have traveled to France, Italy, England, Ireland, Wales, and Greece. Our next trip will be to Berlin, Prague & The Alps + Paris in 2020. For more information, visit our PfAbroad website below:
